Grossology

Today we went to see the exhibit "Grossology, the (impolite) science of the human body". At least, I think that's how it is titled! It is a temporary exhibit at the new Sci-Tech Discovery Center. I believe it started in October and the last day is tomorrow, so we got in just in time.

There are things to read and learn in each part of the exhibit. I think Eric got some of it, but mostly had fun checking out the "gross" things and playing with the interactive displays. The grossest thing for me had to be the "guess the smell" game. They had four bottles you could squeeze and then give a little sniff. You were supposed to guess the smell. The options? Armpit, anus, foot and mouth. EEEEWWWWWW! I only lasted through 2 smells. Gross!! I don't know how much "science" the kids got out of it, but they had fun. (The pictures aren't the greatest, but better than nothing!)

Here is a picture of Elyse jumping ('cuz she loves to jump....anywhere) near some skin with scabs, zits and other skin ailments

Eric is checking out his "innards"

Eric playing the "urine" game and Elyse checking it out. The object was to move the wastes out of the bloodstream (the red part) into the urinary tract (the yellow part) while leaving the good products in the bloodstream. Complicated, I know.

The center also had some fun and interesting hands-on activities for all ages that weren't related to the Grossology exhibit. Elyse had a lot of fun with a few that involved some colorful bouncy balls.

While the kids were playing, there was a presentation going on in another part of the room. Before I could stop her, Elyse took off running right towards it. I was shocked when she ran right into the middle of the audience and plopped herself down and started listening to the "cow eyeball dissection"! She actually looked like she was taking it all in. Very funny. Then, she was checking out the little girl next her and touching her shoes, etc. I think it started to annoy that little girl! Funny kid.

It was a fun little Saturday outing. Can't wait to see what else is in store at the Discovery Center!

that sounds cool, fun, and gross all at the same time! I have never even heard of this place.

I think Ashton would enjoy something like that.
