In case it changes down the road, for the record, Elyse and Eric ADORE each other. Elyse is happiest if Eric is paying attention to her. Her gaze will follow him everywhere...and now the rest of her too. She will sometimes make loud noises that crack him up. She knows when she makes him laugh and she will keep doing it to keep him laughing! It is so cute.
Since she is always so happy to see him, it is no wonder Eric runs to greet her first every morning. He is already a protective big brother and informs me if Elyse is crawling toward anything that may be a hazard. He has always liked to help out with her and he's pretty good about sharing toys (or if he doesn't want her to have something of his, he'll find something else to give her!) Not only is Elyse a light in all our lives, she also has made Eric a wonderful big brother!
On to the stats. Elyse was 9 months on November 8, but her 9 month checkup was today. Her height is 27 1/2 inches and her weight is 16.2 pounds. Everything checked out great!
-Since learning to stand, that is pretty much all she wants to do now. If I put her on the floor to play, more often that not she will crawl over to something she can pull herself up on. The girl loves to stand!
-When standing, she will sometimes let go with one hand and look all "yeah, I"m cool. This is easy for me!"
-I'm trying to give her more "people" food because she loves it. Anything I cut up in tiny little pieces and put in front of her she loves to grab and shove in her mouth. Which brings me to...
-Elyse is kind of like having a dog. She crawls around on the floor and will find any tiny little crumb or fuzz there is and proceeds to put it in her mouth! Sheesh. She has to be watched like a hawk.
-She has mastered climbing a whole flight of stairs (Eric counted...I think it was 18). Of course, I was right behind her, but she blew up those steps like she had been doing it her whole life. She must have been practicing when I wasn't watching - ha!
-Her favorite toys to suck or chew on (because let's face it, right now that is how she "plays" with everything!) are those baby link-a-do toys, trains (she loves standing at Eric's train table and grabbing the trains) balls, books and anything you set up that she can pull apart.
-She is a happy, fun baby girl and we often call her "smiley sweets". She is very smiley at home, but does not smile as easily for strangers. From day 1, we started calling her "sweets" and still do, but it has morphed into many variations of that. Sweetsy, Sweetsy Petesy, Sweetie Peetie, Petes, and Eric even calls her "feets" or "eats" or anything that rhymes! We also call her "Elyse", so she does know her name!
We are absolutely in love with our baby girl! Here are a few of her many sweet faces:
